iOS 7 Update – First Thoughts – Finally

Well after that not so nice post, guess what is available for my iPhone??? The long awaited iOS 7 update….

Of course when I’m updating my phone (during the process) I get 4 calls (which I put to voice mail)… Always wondered what would happen if I answered any of them… Hmmm… I would probably wind up with a very expensive brick!

Well with the fast Internet where I am… It didn’t take long to get… Oh oh… I just remembered… I backed up my iPad but not the iPhone…. S@it…. That figures… I hope I loose nothing….

I remember when I upgraded to iOS 5… What a nightmare with the data!!! Time will see!

Waiting on the process… Pause for now…

Finally downloaded and is now preparing the download (2 more phone calls, ignored)….

Reboot the phone and see the apple logo with a very slow update bar….

Waiting on the process… Pause for now…

Wow… What a Login Screen…. Weird…. Not used to that…. Even the interface screen is different, way different than what I’m used to… this will take time to go through….

The app search is better I think…
No more going left of the home page… Just a quick jester of your thumb and your there…

Also the quick settings control panel is a god send… About time I think…

Wow.. Already ran out the battery after the feature testing … Let me charge it and I’ll be back!

And now I have the iPad updated…. Got to get used to this interface now….
Ok after 2-3 days of testing….

  • The background moving screens…. Not really needed… Fad wore off after 2 hrs
  • The New Notify Screen… Not too bad… Just got to get used to it…
  • The New Control Screen (from the bottom)… Excellent… Very Handy, especially for the iPhone.
  • The new App Search… Takes getting used to… Glad you don’t have to scroll to the left now…
  • The new Multitask/App removal from memory… Better way of doing it… Still needs improvements
  • In the iPhone Safari: I love the new way they handle multiple tab switching… Why didn’t they also to that on the iPad?

All in all I think it’s a good start… With anything out there…. There are always a better way to do something… And soon I’m sure there will be upgrades… Like I said earlier… We just need to get used to it… It does seem like a small learning curve if you are used to the previous iOS…

FYI… From iOS 6 to iOS 7, no data loss… Everything was kept including bookmarks and data entry.
Also the battery and signal strength meter seems to work the same… When iOS 5 first came out the battery and wi-fi signal seemed not to work correctly!
